alright so heres the deal. i live in central arkansas and i'm an artist. i really want to have a show in gallery sometime soon. but unfortunately, there are very few galleries here, and what is here doesn't match my style of art, and i know they would't represent me (our art community is terrible, most of it consists of old people painting landscapes and floral arrangements)
!! so with any gallery here being out of the question, what other ways can i show my art? please help?

You can approach a coffee shop, bank, restaurant, bookstore, library, office, or music club and ask if they will exhibit a selection of your work for a month or so. This is a great way to build a resume of one-person shows. Start by using your contacts - anyone you know who works in one of these places. Be professional when you approach the owners and carry a portfolio with samples of your best work. If one doesn't work out, just thanks them politely for their time and move onto the next place. I'm sure you'll find a place that is happy to show your work and this is a good start. You can approach galleries after you have more exposure. Good luck.
