What are some cost effective ways to ship delicate items?

I am going to be shipping floral arrangements. How do I go about obtaining the best rates from the best shippers like UPS, Fed-Ex, etc. Who are the more reliable shippers?

What are some cost effective ways to ship delicate items?
Are your arrangement live or silk?

If silk - go to your local office supply store and purchase some bubble wrap - great for packing and virtually weightless. Wrap well in bubble wrap for protection and then place in box. Tape well and mark fragile. Then go on-line and check the best rates for your destination and weight and time frame for arrival.

If it is live - your local florist can send for you - they have the packing experience for live plants and great rates already established with their shipper.
Reply:Shipping delicate items is never cheap.. if you absolutely have to ship them, use a professional courier company, such as FedEx or DHL.
Reply:i think fed ex is a good place to start and get it insured
Reply:Problem is how your package is handled by each individual employee. Both Fed-Ex and UPS work well. But you have to assume your package will take some mishandling and abuse. Make sure to label "fragile" multiple times, and package well enough to survive mild crushing and drops.
