I will not have bridesmaids, or any flower arrangements at church or home. I just will have a small bouquet arranged from my backyard flowers for me. No corsages or anything. I believe it is a waste of $$, and the floral industry charges so much and then off to a honeymoon for 2 weeks in which I would never see floral arrangements that would wilt anyways. You say?
Do You HAVE To Have Flowers for the Wedding?
No, you don't have to have flowers, No one will say your wedding was terrible b/c there were no flowers. You could you hurricane vases filled with sand and a candle as a centerpiece (if you even want a centerpiece) or just use candles. A cheap place to get candles is www.candles4less.com
Reply:Weddings are meant to celebrate the union of two people. Do it how you feel suits you and your future spouse!
Reply:You make a good point. It's your wedding day so do what you want. I don't think it would be a problem to not have flowers... who cares right? I did have flowers at my wedding, but I didnt carry a bouquet, I just carried a single rose - most people were like "WHAT, NO BOUQUET" when I told them, but heck, its my wedding!
Do what you want. I think your day will be perfect for you no matter what... ditch the flowers if you want! Go for it!
Good luck and congrats!
Reply:It's your wedding. Do it the way you want it.
Reply:As long as your happy with it, I think it was a good decision. I also agree that it's a waste of money.
Reply:It's your wedding. Do it the way you want it.
Reply:Being that there's no legal requirement to have flowers, I say do what makes you happiest. I agree that most of the wedding fluffery is a waste of time and money.
Reply:fine with me !what ever you want . flowers die and are a waste of money and I tell my husband no flowers for me for , anniversity , birthday , valentines day or any other holiday
Reply:Great idea. Congratulations. Do what you want.
Reply:No, flowers are most definitely not a legal requirement.
Reply:I'm totally with you! I'm so sick of the notion that I have to do something in my wedding because that's the way it's always been. I had this revelation about corsages and boutonnieres the other night. Who needs them?
Reply:sounds really refreshing, good for you. The wedding industry is a real scam!!
Reply:I'm guessing your FH will love you for this!
If flowers are not a big deal for you, don't bother.
More focus on the wedding and the ceremony.
And, for my daughter's wedding, we got flowers from Kroger. They looked great.

Reply:Hi and congratulations!
NO....you DON'T have to have flowers at all! Personally, I LOVE flowers and would want some.
Here is a thought:
~ Do you have enough backyard flowers for 2 vases (can be bought at a dollar store) for each side of the altar at the church?
I do think that would look nice. OR....do you live by a Walmart or Costco? I buy roses all the time from Walmart...you get 12 for $10! Cheap! I don't know what Costco charges. All the grocery stores with floral departments (and some without!) even sell flowers now. My local grocery store does and I live in a little town!
I do think it would look nice to have something in the church. But, again, YOUR choice.
Also...something inexpensive would be ....what about a small boutonniere for your groom and a small corsage for the "moms"? This is EASY, EASY, EASY to do with silks, which you can make up ahead of time. And with all the upcoming sales at craft stores? Well, again, just an idea. If you got brave enough you could even do them with real flowers (again, from Walmart or a grocery store!) Here is a link showing how to do it:

For everything....2 church arrangements, 1 boutonniere, and 2 corsages....it should be $30 max!
But, again, NO, you don't need anything! Good luck!
Reply:Nope...get creative and try something else-like ribbon bouquets(folded like flowers)
Reply:It is your wedding you can do what you want. I am having a small wedding and a large reception. And I agree that it is a waste of money to have tons of flowers if it is not what you want. I will not be having any flowers at my reception and I think that with the decorations that I will have it will be just as beautiful without spending money on lots of flowers that will just be thrown away once it is over.
Reply:it's your wedding, you do it the way you want. it's your day, noone elses.
Reply:i dont think you NEED flowers for a wedding but its nice to have 1 or 2 boquettes. but that makes alot of sence because 2week honeymoon and you wont get to see them
Reply:Of course you don't have to have flowers at your wedding. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do except sign the marriage license and say "I do."
But if you're only worried about flowers dying and not getting your money's worth, you can use silk flowers and give the bouquets as gifts to the mothers and grandmothers before going on your honeymoon. Flowers just make things look more festive.
Reply:Then don't have flowers. That simple!!! My hubby used to buy me flowers until I told him to stop - they die and I get sad. So for the last to years I get all sorts of little trinkets.
Reply:do whatever makes you happy. You could always substitute flowers with something else. Like my cousin took fish bowls and put floating flower candles in them. They looked cool enough without getting too expensive.
Reply:I say it is your wedding, do what you want! I like the idea of having flowers from your backyard. That sounds beautiful as well and more meaningful than just purchasing them from a store. Enjoy your wedding, congrats and good luck!
Reply:of course you do not need flowers at your wedding silly.. whatever you want!
Reply:it is your wedding. If you don't want to have flowers, it is fine. It is your wedding day, do whatever makes you happy.
Reply:flowers make it classy if you dont want a classy wedding then dont take flowers
its a good gesture that you are a civilized person
